What inspired you to write your first book?

The original story was about a relationship between a father and his daughter.  When I came out in 2008,  and from a conversation I was having with one of my closest friends, I decided to change everything about the book. I did keep a small part of the relationship between the main character's father and herself.

Can you share with us a little about your current book?

The book is about Vampires. The main character is telling her journey and the perspective of her experience while trying to figure out how to save her species and mankind.

Can you share with us a little about yourself?

I currently reside in Los Angeles, CA. I'm a mother of three great young adults. I don't usually like to use labels to describe myself, but I am a lesbian of color, living my truth. This is my first published work as a writer.

Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

Stephen King is my favorite author. What I love about his body of work is that he isn't afraid to take risks or go outside of his comfort zone. Who else could write about a car and have you scared to drive after reading his novel?

He is a brilliant story teller and I read his book "Stephen King / On Writing ~ A Memoir of the Craft."  This book has taught me so much and has shown me more about myself without having even meeting him. He is truly a gift to the literature world and us mere humans.

Do you have any advice for other writers who are just starting in this career?

Do your homework on the genre you wish to write in and see who your competition is. Also, make sure you are knowledgeable about self-publishing vs traditional publishing and goodness sake engage with your fan base. It doesn't have to be on all of social media outlets all at once. Just take the time to reach and appreciate them. Trust me, readers are a very loyal bunch.

Where can we purchase your book?
